Produktinformation

Michael Rhangabe was a high-court official that seized power when Nicephorus I was killed in battle. His eldest son Theophylactus became co-emperor and Michael thereby reversed the iconoclast policies of his predecessor. He had little success as ruler and abdicated in 813 and then lived 30 years as a monk.
